WHAT IS ROSE GOLD FILLED?

"Rose gold filled" is comprised of a layer of solid 14K gold which is permanently bonded to a base metal, usually brass. The rose gold colour is achieved by alloying the gold with copper. The layer of gold must be a minimum of 1/20th (or 5%) of the weight of the item. Gold fill is very hard wearing and will not peel or flake, unlike gold plate, under normal wear. It is therefore commonly used as an economical alternative to pure gold.
